Feb. 16, 2023 – The Village of Kenmore is pleased to announce that it has endorsed HomeServe, a national service provider, to offer home repair insurance for homeowner water and sewer lines. Letters have been mailed to all property owners. These letters provide information about the availability of insurance and more about the program. There is no obligation to purchase insurance through HomeServe.
Homeowners are responsible for the water and sewer lines that run from the Village-owned lines to their homes. Water and sewer lines can need repair due to neglect, climate, corrosion, or changes in soil. Many of these lines are very old and repairs to these lines can be quite expensive ($5,000 and up). HomeServe provides low-cost insurance for water and/or sewer lines owned by the homeowner, with no deductible. If you participate in this program, HomeServe will contact a licensed plumber and pay for the entire repair.
You may have some coverage under your homeowners policy. We recommend that you check with your agent to find out how much coverage you have, and what your deductible would be. HomeServe coverage can supplement any coverage you may have and there is no deductible. If you don’t have any coverage under your current policy, this would provide protection in the event of a problem with your water or sewer line.
Information and pricing is included in the mailing. We encourage you to review this information and consider participating. Homeowners are invited to enroll by the date listed on the letter. You can complete and mail in the application form, included with your letter or you can apply online at www.coveragebyhomeserve.com.
Participation in HomeServe is completely optional. You decide what works best for you.
Questions about the program can be made by phone at (844) 257-8795 or by going to www.slwofa.com. SLWA stands for Service Line Warranties of America.
