EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS TWO FINANCIAL MATTERS.


    Trustee Muscarella moved to go into Executive Session to discuss one financial and seven legal matters.

    Seconded by Trustee Catalano and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.

    Trustee Muscarella moved to end the Executive Session.

    Seconded by Trustee Catalano and adopted by a full vote of all members present.

CORPORATION PROCEEDINGS

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor Mang. Mayor Mang led the Pledge of Allegiance.

BOARD APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF CHARLES SEARS AS A PROBATIONARY FULL-TIME LABORER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.


    Trustee Muscarella moved to approve the appointment of Charles Sears as a probationary full-time Laborer for the Department of Public Works, effective September 2, 2009.  Mayor Mang introduced Mr. Sears to the Board and Gallery and congratulated Mr. Sears.

    Seconded by Trustee McCarthy and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF RAYMOND COLLADO AS A PROBATIONARY FULL-TIME LABORER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.

    Trustee McCarthy moved to approve the appointment of Raymond Collado as a probationary full-time Laborer for the Department of Public Works, effective September 2, 2009.  Mayor Mang introduced Mr. Collado to the Board and Gallery and congratulated Mr. Collado.

    Seconded by Trustee Bestine and approved by Trustee Muscarella and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative. Trustee Catalano abstained.



BOARD APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF THREE NEW MEMBERS OF THE KENMORE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.

    Trustee Bestine moved to approve the appointment of Eric J. Prentiss of 35 Linden Avenue, Robert M. Kelly of 19 Charleston Avenue and Ernest J. Tsakiris of 215 Stillwell Avenue as new members of the Kenmore Volunteer Fire Department.

    Seconded by Trustee Muscarella and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF JAMES M. MALOY AS A COMMISSIONER TO THE KENMORE HOUSING AUTHORITY.

    Trustee Muscarella moved to approve the appointment of James M. Maloy of 65 Lincoln Boulevard as a Commissioner to the Kenmore Housing Authority to fill an unexpired term which expires July, 2012.  Mayor Mang introduced Mr. Maloy to the Board and Gallery and congratulated Mr. Maloy.

    Seconded by Trustee Bestine and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED AND GRANTED PERMISSION TO POLICE OFFICER MICHAEL LANDIS TO ATTEND A SEMINAR.

    Trustee Catalano moved to approve and grant permission to Police Officer Michael Landis to attend a seminar entitled “Combating Domestic Violence: New Laws, Issues and Practices”, September 11, 2009, at Hilbert College, with expenses.

    Seconded by Trustee McCarthy and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED AND GRANTED PERMISSION TO POLICE DETECTIVE JOSEPH VACANTI TO ATTEND A SEMINAR.


    Trustee Muscarella moved to approve and grant permission to Police Detective Joseph Vacanti to attend a seminar entitled “Federal Law Enforcement Toolbox Training”, November 17, 2009, in Buffalo, with expenses.

    Seconded by Trustee McCarthy and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED AND GRANTED PERMISSION TO A POLICE LIEUTENANT AND TWO POLICE OFFICERS TO ATTEND A SEMINAR.

    Trustee Bestine moved to approve and grant permission to Police Lieutenant Sheila Kirsch and Officers Timothy Phillips and Douglas Rich to attend a seminar entitled “Interview and Interrogation Skills”, October 14-15, 2009, in Buffalo, with expenses.

    Seconded by Trustee Muscarella and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED AND GRANTED PERMISSION TO THE RESIDENTS OF ARGONNE DRIVE TO HOLD A BLOCK PARTY.


    Trustee McCarthy moved to approve and grant permission to the residents of Argonne Drive, between Colvin Boulevard and Hiler Avenue, to hold their annual Block Party on Saturday, Saturday September 12, 2009 at the request of Sabina Mooney.

    Seconded by Trustee Catalano and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



BOARD APPROVED AND GRANTED PERMISSION TO THE RESIDENTS OF NASSAU AVENUE TO HOLD A BLOCK PARTY.

    Trustee Muscarella moved to approve and grant permission to the residents of Nassau Avenue, between Delaware Road and Myron Avenue, to hold their annual Block Party on Saturday, Saturday September 12, 2009 at the request of Christina Reid.

    Seconded by Trustee Bestine and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



ABSTRACT OF AUDITED VOUCHERS.
    Trustee Bestine offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:

    RESOLVED, that the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to sign the Abstract of Audited Vouchers dated September 1, 2009, in the amount of $419,673.99; General Fund $176,176.92; Community Development $200,272.07; Water Fund $43,225.00 and to direct the Treasurer to pay each of the listed claimants in the amount appearing opposite his/her name.

    Seconded by Trustee Muscarella and adopted by a full vote in the affirmative.



INVITATION FOR PUBLIC COMMENT/QUESTIONS 
               

    Mayor Mang asked if any one wished to be heard.

    Trustee McCarthy asked that there be a moment of silence for Wes Nichols, a retiree from the Department of Public Works, who passed away on August 31, 2009 at the age of 53.  A moment of silence was offered.

    As no one else wished to be heard the meeting was adjourned.



    The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be September 15, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
