Originated by New York State Senator, and Kenmore native, Mary Lou Rath, this program is designed to combine good health with community pride. Each year, several communities throughout Erie County and in the Rochester area provide walking tour information packets.
Participants are encouraged to visit and “walk the villages” of as many participating municipalities as possible. As they walk, walkers are encouraged, not only to learn more about each community, but to visit area merchants. Sponsor merchants evidence walker participation by signing off on a coupon/entry form. These completed forms are then submitted, placing walker participants in the running for various local and program prizes.
